trick or treat

so, given her obsession, the costume choice for halloween 2010 was actually pretty easy.  ELMO.  she loved the costume to pieces and was asking to wear it every day for the last few weeks, although she was miss serious as soon as we zipped it up.  she loved picking out the candy and putting it in her plastic pumpkin, although her uncorrupted mind still doesn’t know what candy is...  so, essentially she walked around in her beloved elmo costume and chose candy for my hubs and i to eat for the next week or so.
we had a blast!  happy halloween, everyone!

getting ready.  we go through this fight pretty much every time we need to change diapers/fix hair/get dressed.  daisy looks happy, though!

she really looked like elmo!

pun-KIN! (that's how she says it)
boo!

it is fall, it is fall...the leaves are falling everywhere.

(post title courtesy of yo-gabba-gabba.  this is in my head for the entire season.)

i was definitely feeling bitter about the weather change...once it starts to cool down AT ALL, i start dreading the snow (or more accurately, the freezing rain.  ick.).  but october has won me over.  the weather has been beautiful here in the sorta-northeast, and we’ve been doing all of the fall things that you’re supposed to do.  apple & pumpkin picking, hayrides, cider, wine tastings...you’d think we were the rockwells!  (which, umm, we’re not.)  i’ve been a bad blogger, but i’d like to think it’s because we’re really enjoying ourselves before the shit-tastic weather moves in.
i did have one ‘bad mom’ moment that i believe is noteworthy...i locked the keys in the car last week.  with A in it.  yup, i was that mom.  for the event, i had the help of two local cops, one state trooper, and a locksmith...but who saved the day (and at least $400)?  you guessed it.  my sis.  she came to the rescue with the spare keys.  she rocks, y’all.
but anyway, here are some recent pics (i know that’s why you come to this site...so i’ll get right to it!).

in awe.

i was just looking through old pics of the A monster, and mostly i was laughing at her expressions (“mom, ENOUGH with the camera already!”, or “wow! helicopters!”).  but then i stumbled across this one, and it just took my breath away.  such innocence and purity...she just slays me.  i would do anything for this child.  i can’t believe that she’s mine.

16 monthdays.

On the 20th of every month since she was born, we’ve been taking her picture so we can capture the changes that she’s making.  From month to month, it really doesn’t seem like she changes all that much...but looking at it like this -- in succession -- is CRAZY!  In just 16 short months, she has gone from a teeny tiny baby to a full-blown toddler...check it out!  She has definitely become more difficult to photograph, since she is ALWAYS on the move...but to see how much she has changed is just amazing.  I am so proud of her...just think of all that she has learned in the past sixteen months!  I get all emotional just thinking about it...I mean, she is SO much bigger than she was just one year ago.  Where did my baby go?!?  SLOW DOWN, kiddo!
